The project
NatuRegio_floodplains is a vocational training programme for young experts in the field of nature conservation and regional development linked with the implementation of small projects in the Danube catchment area. Target group are people in the age of up to 40 years working with Floodplain/Wetland /Aquatic Ecosystem and Protected Areas Management in the Central and Lower Danube River Basin. The trainees will pass a vocational training programme in Germany for 5 weeks and a 5 days “cross border workshop”. They will develop projects for their home countries which will be implemented during the project period by the trainees, supported by the international project team.

The project aims at enhancing sustainable nature conservation and regional development strategies in floodplains and wetlands along the Danube, encouraging cross-border collaboration and establishing a network of experts in the countries involved.

Trainee positions
Successful applicants will take part in a nature conservation management training programme in Germany with focus on floodplains and wetlands, which consists of a five week trainee programme in Germany at 5 different sites along the river systems of Elbe, Danube and Rhine, as well as a 5 days “cross border workshop” at the Danube in South East Europe.
To support the implementation of excellent small future-oriented projects in Floodplains and Wetlands in the Danube catchment area by the trainees themselves in a period of 4-5 months, special project grants are available depending on the number of participating trainees (2,500 € per person).

The project grant allows the trainees to take part in the five week training programme and 5 days “Cross-Border-Workshop” free of charge. Grants cover also travel costs to Germany and Cross-Border-Workshop, all expenses of accommodation and board as well as all fees. No salaries are paid during the Training Programme and Cross-Border-Workshop.
For the implementation of the small projects grants can be paid (2,500 € per person).

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must specify their current area of work in the field of nature conservation and regional development within the field of Floodplains/Wetlands/Aquatic Ecosystem/Protected Areas Management in the Danube River Basin.
- Candidates should be employed by an institution working in nature conservation and/or regional development.
- Candidates should have a professional experience of 2 years at least, and they should not be older than 40 years.
- Only applications from following countries are accepted: Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine.

Language: The trainee programme will be carried out in English language. Therefore a sound knowledge of written and spoken English is essential.

!!! Deadline for Application is January, 31st 2011 !!!

The applications will be checked by a selection board and are the basis for an interview in several cities along the Danube (end of February), to which applicants will be invited separately.
